Whenever you add a domain as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that particular provider. On their end, 3 records are set up automatically right after the Internet domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the Internet domain where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that handles the emails for that specific domain name. The website and the e-mail hosting are generally perceived as one thing, when they're in fact two different services. Having independent records for them will enable you to have them with different companies if you want. For example, some new provider could have outstanding uptime for your website, but you may not want to switch your e-mail messages from your current host and by employing an A record to point the Internet domain to the former and MX records to have the e-mails with the latter, you can get the best of both companies. These records are checked when you want to open a site or send an email - either way, the provider whose name servers are used for the Internet domain is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you will see the needed website or your email will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with each and every Linux shared hosting that we offer you, will permit you to view, modify and create A and MX records for every Internet domain or subdomain within your account. Using the DNS Records section, you will be able to view a list of all hosts within the account in alphabetical order with their related records, so any update is not going to take you more than a few mouse clicks. Setting up new records is just as simple if, as an example, you would like to use the e-mail services of another company and they ask you to create more MX records than the default 2. You can even set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. Quite simply, when your emails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it's going to contact the next one. With our innovative tool, you will be able to control the records of your domain names and subdomains with ease even if you have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Accessing and changing the A or MX records for any of your domains or subdomains is extremely easy if you get a semi-dedicated server plan from our company. The accounts are managed by using our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which includes a section devoted to the DNS records of your domains. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you can click on any of them to see both the A and the MX records. Modifying any record is as easy as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even if you have never dealt with such matters before, you'll not encounter any difficulties if you decide to direct your site or e-mails to some other provider while keeping the second service with our company. If necessary, you could also set up additional MX records and set a specific priority based on the recommendations of the new provider.
